Goodbye 2013

Happy New Year’s Eve! Hope everyone has a wonderful end to 2013.

I had a very big year in 2013 with a coast-to-coast move from Washington, D.C. to San Jose, California. I am settling in and adjusting to the wonderful weather here. As a couple, my husband and I have many goals for 2014 and would love to be in a house by this time next year. In addition to my own career goals, I also have some personal resolutions for the new year.

There are three things I want for myself next year:

1. Send fewer emails and text messages and instead connect with friends and family over FaceTime. Hand-written cards are also a nice touch! This will become especially important since we left our family and so many of our dear friends on the east coast.

2. Drink a healthy shake each morning. I just want to make it a priority to have an extra dose of yummy goodness in the morning. I eat fairly healthy, but want to set the tone for the day with a protein shake or green smoothie at least five days a week.

3. Clean out the clutter. I am a great shopper. I know where to find fabulous deals and enjoy spending an afternoon with a friend browsing, but stuff clutters the house and mind. A friend told me to try to only buy household things on vacations, like a dish platter made by a local artist, which will have more meaning to you than something from a department store that everyone has. As for clothing, the one-in-one-out rule is a good one to follow. It is important to refresh and update, but as I do that I want to repurpose older items or donate to charity.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? What are your goals for 2014?

I wish you a safe and memorable NYE!!
