Photo: Boudin Bakery Clam Chowder for me!
I had a great day Sunday exploring Los Altos with my husband. We went to church and then to Draegers, a local market, to browse and pick up fresh fish and veggies for dinner (see stunning rainbow carrots below!). I love exploring speciality markets and my favorite find at Draegers was their gourmet truffle butter. I cannot really even tell you how amazing this butter tastes. Of course, it is delicious on toast, but also great on asparagus or baked potatoes. The labels also suggests putting a little over grilled steaks or eggs. Endless possibilities really.
As I continue to think and talk about food, February 25th is National Clam Chowder Day. I love a traditional chowder in a bread bowl. In northern California, for a quick meal, I like Boudin Bakery’s Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. I love a delicious soup on a chilly day. My husband and I sometimes make a big pot on Sundays and then enjoy it throughout the week. It is actually very easy to make and you can reduce the amount of cream in your recipe.
Just a few more days to go in February and then we can almost touch spring! Yesterday, I visited Pier One and Home Goods and was very excited to see St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decor on display. Time to start preparing and planning for all the March and April parties and events!
