101 Things in 1001 Update

Carmel, California, 101 Things 1001

Carmel, California

Our day exploring Carmel and 17-mile Drive.

It has been a few months since I finished my 101 Things in 1001 Days List. I am happy to report I am making progress. Five items down and 96 to go! Loving the adventure and experience of working toward my 101 Things in 1001 Days in Northern California. This is a beautiful state and there is so much here to appreciate.

In January, my husband and I drove through Carmel (#30). We spent the entire day leisurely driving along the beach and paid the $10 entry fee to continue along 17-mile drive and it was spectacular. Each vista was more beautiful than the next and the sand was so inviting. We were overwhelmed by the natural beauty of Monterey and Carmel.  This was one of my favorite things I have done so far in California. I would recommend you too make a day of Carmel! There is also a quaint downtown area with restaurants and shops. You will not be disappointed. Also, in January, we attended a Jazz Brunch at Mountain Winery (#90). I enjoyed the music and the food was delicious. It was so warm, we were able to sit outside. I am looking forward to their summer concerts.

We also attended Winter WINEland event in Healdsburg (#12). This was an awesome event people. See my blog post on the event and my favorite wines of the day here. Mark your calendars for the next Winter WINEland in 2015 now!

This week I will complete #18 having attended two San Jose Sharks home games this week! Great energy in the crowd and lots of giveaways throughout the game!

I also recently had one of my favorite soups clam chowder in a classic San Francisco sourdough bread bowl. Goodbye  #28, although I am sure we will meet again.

I also made one new local blogger friend, Holly of Create Bake Celebrate. Holly is also an east coast girl so we have a lot in common. Holly and her sister Madeline’s are talented DIYers and blog about their projects, recipes, and fashion! I also started taking French lessons. Bonjour! Anyway, I haven’t made too much progress on finding my favorite French Macaroon shop yet. Would love any recommendations. Also, in preparation for #76, I went ahead and purchased my Katy Perry concert tickets. Pretty excited about that one, even though the concert is not until September.
