Happy weekend! We are spending Easter with my sister in Ashburn, VA. Today is much warmer and more like a spring day than the previous few days here. I am hoping this nicer weather continues through the weekend! We have a nice weekend planned with family and friends, and of course excellent meals.
Here are my ideas for this Easter weekend:
1. Have an Easter egg hunt. It does not matter how old you are or if there are even small children around, everyone loves an Easter egg hunt. Just make sure the goodies are fun and unexpected. Of course, kids love candy, but you can also put other items in plastic eggs like stickers, coins, and family coupons. For other more mature individuals, maybe include gift cards, cash, or date night coupons.
2. Visit a special exhibit or local attraction. You might have visitors in town all weekend, so get out of the house Saturday and explore a local favorite. When we were living in Washington, D.C. I loved having out-of-town guests because it was an excuse to visit a museum or performance. My favorite day trip for guests was a trip to George Washington’s Mount Vernon and then a late lunch in Old Town Alexandria. This weekend though I would recommend a tour of the DC Design House. This is a designer showhouse where top interior designer professionals redesign rooms in a home to raise money for a local charity. You will be inspired to take on a new project in your own home. If we were in San Jose this weekend, we might check out the Earth Day Celebration at the SF Zoo. Live entertainment, face painting, and a scavenger hunt are just a few of the special events they are having on 19 and 20 April.
3. Enjoy Peeps! This is the weekend people.. No judgements. Pick up your favorite colored Peeps and eat them! Make s’mores with them or just put them out for some festive decor. Also be sure to check out the hilarious “Peeps Show” dioramas made with Peeps.
