Lake Arrowhead is a quaint village about two hours from Los Angeles. It was my first time here and I was happy to visit a new place with lots of greenery and a beautiful lake. We were here for a dear couple’s wedding last weekend, which was also just spectacular and I will share some of their special wedding details with you this week. The weather was unseasonably warm in the 90’s, but normally I think it is a bit cooler this time of year. I believe this is also a popular destination for filmmakers, as over 120 movies have been filmed here including the 1998 version of The Parent Trap.
Lake Arrowhead is quiet and relaxing, and makes a wonderful destination for a family getaway. We would love to return here with our new little baby and rent a cabin for the weekend. There are a few shops and restaurants, our favorite being the Belgian Waffle Works located right on the water with tasty breakfast and sandwich options. There is also a Rocky Mountain Chocolate shop for sweets and treats.
The drive to the lake had lots of winding turns, but along the way, we passed another little lake village called Lake Gregory and they had the most exciting water park on the lake for kids and adults. Splash Island looked like so much fun with slides and bouncers, and would be another great place for a family to visit while in this region. Saturday morning when we were out walking through Lake Arrowhead Village, they were many people out on their boats for an early adventure and some were waterskiing. It looked like there are lots of activities to keep you busy for the weekend or you could just curl up in a nice chair and relax by the water.
Have you been to Lake Arrowhead? What are some of your favorite things to do here?
