The 17-Mile Drive is one of my favorite road trips in Northern California. Enjoying this scenic drive is easy as there are endless, stunning views of the water and coastline. This area is also known for its famous golf courses, the gorgeous homes, and the Lone Cypress. You can end or start your drive in the quaint town of Carmel. Here you can stroll the charming streets, shops and restaurants, and visit the dog-friendly beaches. Monterey is at the other end of the drive and has a wharf to explore, as well as the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Of all the times I have been here, this particular late September day was the best weather of any of my trips there. It was warm and breezy, but not too windy, which you often find especially in the early afternoon and evenings along the coast.
It is easy to see why this is a popular location for retirement and second homes. Anyone lucky enough to call the Monterey Peninsula home should sleep very well each night! The area is so peaceful and full of vivid colors, both the ocean and the natural beauty of the trees and mountains.
I have family coming out to visit in November and December. I plan to take them along the 17-Mile Drive and even spend the night at the Mission Ranch Hotel! The Mission Ranch looks like a great place for a weekend getaway and would be an incredible place to get married. We also want to try the most romantic little French restaurant in Carmel, Casanova.
If you love Carmel and Monterey, I would love to know your favorite spots and things to do here!
