Last week, I attended my first Silicon Valley blogger party. This party was hosted by the fabulous blogger Jamie of J For Jamie at the offices of Polyvore in Mountain View. All the bloggers were super excited to be inside Polyvore, get an insider tour of their spaces, and hear about the history of Polyvore. Like many start-ups, this company started as a small group of programmers who believed in what they were creating, worked very hard, and slowly became bigger and more successful. Jess Lee is the CEO and Co-Founder who has a computer science degree from Standford! She spoke with us about her journey, her passion, and the culture of Polyvore. She is extremely bright, inspiring, and makes you feel very comfortable the minute you meet her. Not to mention she has a unique and enviable sense of style. The culture and perks of this office start with their kitchen where lunch is catered, games are plentiful, and happy hours are a Thursday thing.

It was a great evening to meet other local Bay Area bloggers. We discussed local blog conferences, photoshop and software, blogs we love, and the topic of blogger burnout. Jess Lee’s talk and the tour of Polyvore were the highlights and I really enjoyed seeing their creative, open collaborative work spaces.

At the end of the night, we all went home with our swag bag. The great part about taking home goodies (besides of course opening up a party box!) is that you discover new brands and products. We had a number of great sponsors and I wanted to share my favorites with you.

Pennie Post is an adorable stationary company that offers a monthly subscription. There are 1, 3, 6, and 12-month options and this would make a great gift for someone who loves to send snail mail (like me!). You can also purchase individual darling cards directly from their site.

Shopbracket made the adorable Blog Party headbands for the event and I was so surprised to see their cute collection online. Planning a birthday party or bachelorette event? You can grab your party drink stirs, little headbands, cake toppers, and banners all from here. You can also customize your selections for a personal touch.

Thatch and Thistle is a supply company and they have a nice selection for DIYers and party planners. They have seasonal items, stickers, and bags in every color.

The Makery in Los Altos is the cutest little shop where you can purchase supplies for a project or party, but you can also host an event here. This shop is so darling and next time you are in Lost Altos, be sure to stop in!

BareMinerals has been a favorite of mine for a few years. I love their mascara, the Lash Dominating Volumizing Mascara and I think at $18 it is a steal. One new product I had not tried was the Marvelous Moxie Lipgloss. I am a big fan of glossy lips and two colors included in our party box were Miss Popular and Hypnotist. Miss Popular is a gorgeous light color pink and perfect for everyday. The Hypnotist is so popular it is currently sold out online, but it is a stunning iridescent color that varies deepening on your lip color. You can layer these lip glosses and they are naturally hydrating.
