I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. My sister flew into town and we had such a fun day Saturday shopping at Macy’s. This was the sale to catch! We scored deeply discounted new fall boots, jackets, and some items for baby.
Well, we have been in the Bay Area over a year and not a single person here shared this gem of a spot within 45 minutes of where we live! I discovered Gayle’s Bakery and Rosticceria last week in Capitola. Gayle’s Bakery is my new FAVORITE and I really mean favorite bakery in the Bay Area. Yes, I am sure there are delicious bakeries in San Francisco that I too have yet to discover, but right now, Gayle’s is my kind of place.
Gayle’s is a gourmet market which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They open daily at 6:30 am for the early morning crowd. If I lived closer, I would be a regular, stopping by for my morning coffee and breakfast. Gayle’s serve salads, sandwiches, and soups for lunch, as well as a hot bar with food you can enjoy at the cafe or take home to your family. They also have a large selection of pre-made meals to-go and a beautiful dessert selection. I spent at least five minutes examining the sweets case. Croissants and muffins do get me excited, but the other bakery items looked just as tempting.
To truly sample this place and give a more unbiased view, I thought it was essential I try a piece of pie while there =) And the pumpkin pie was light and tasty! This would be the perfect place to grab a cake or pie to bring over to a friend’s house for a gathering. They also have seasonal items for sale and I look forward to returning in December to stock up on seasonal favorites.
Go here for breakfast or lunch, or an afternoon snack and cup of coffee. Gayle’s, you should think about coming closer to San Jose or Half Moon Bay, we could really use a fantastic bakery!
Have you discovered a bakery or gourmet market in the Bay Area? I would love to hear your recommendations.
