Setting the Table

Dining Room Vision

For our new house, our current dining room table will not fit so we had to come up with another style and vision for the room. In the dining room, I want a French country cottage feel with a mix of different chairs and fabrics that still fits in with the beach cottage vibe.

To center the room, I found this chandelier that looks a little distressed with a white wash and I think it is perfect in our space. We do not have high ceilings so we needed a certain length and this one is pretty without being overly polished. A round pedestal table is nice for a small beach cottage. Ideally, a round to oval table would be great since you can add the leaf to extend the table for extra guests (beautiful options here and here). I also love the beadboard/shiplap backing and the color combination on this white storage cabinet. It is exactly what I was looking for and will look great with my collection of tea cups and white china.

As for art, which is always tricky for me to get just right, I want something timeless and colorful. I think I would like an abstract sunset or ocean waves painting. Then again I like this print as well. You will have to wait to see what we select for artwork. Now all I need to do is set the table and add some fresh flowers. Who is coming over for dinner?!
