I am very excited about this Super Bowl Sunday for two reasons. One, Katy Perry is performing at half time and I just adore her. I know she will put on a spectacular half time show, as I saw her in concert last September and was in awe (read about that here). We are also watching the Super Bowl with family and friends, which means we are taking our first overnight road trip! Wish us luck! I am already having anxiety about what to pack for the little one.
Progress continues on the house renovation. We are thrilled with our general contractor and he has helped make this experience a positive one.
Over the weekend, we put paint samples on the wall to decide on room colors. We painted large squares near each other for easy comparison. We like more grey blue colors and want the whole house to feel cohesive. Besides the kitchen, I know my other favorite space will be the nursery. We made a bold color choice for the baby’s room!
Earlier in the week I shared with you that cleaning and organizing this apartment has become less interesting to me as we get closer to moving into our new home. Well the joke is on me because we had an unexpected visitor on Wednesday and I had about 30 minutes to power clean our kitchen, dining room, and family room as it is all one big open space. Get out of my way, I was on a mission. My husband was so impressed with my speed and the outcome, but I would never want someone to walk into my home and see a mess. Lesson learned and I can assure you, I will take much better care of the new kitchen and countertops! Continue reading
Winter in California is my favorite kind of winter. I love being able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors year round. Being able to get out the house, take in fresh air and sunshine is great for me and the baby. It is also the perfect way to start the day and leaves me feeling energized. The ocean is just an added benefit and it instantly relaxes both of us.
We are less than seven weeks from moving into our new house. So while construction is ongoing, we are preparing to move for the third time in two years. We are moving west, closer to the beach, but still in the San Francisco Bay peninsula.
One of the easiest things you can do for your health is to drink more water. It is an area we can all improve on and even if you enjoy drinking water, it can become a bit mundane especially in the colder months. I try to get massages a few times a year and one of my favorite things about a spa day is the infused water. Fresh fruit and flavorful herbs just make a boring cup of water much more interesting. A fun idea for your weekend is to create a spa water bar cart. Over this long weekend for example, take the extra time to create beautiful pitchers of your favorite combinations. It is so simple, just take your favorite fruits, cut them up, and toss in herbs like mint, basil, and rosemary. Pour over ice in your favorite glass.
If water is not your thing, then make a fun juice bar! Fill your pretty pitchers and carafe with fresh juices for you to share. Add some fresh flowers and enjoy.
Cheers to you and your health in 2015! Continue reading
To continue the theme of the week, I thought I would share my current favorite workout gear. I get emails from Old Navy almost daily. They have been pushing their active wear sale since the start of the New Year. I finally caved a took a look online and I was impressed with their cute graphic workout tanks at a great price. Nobody really wants to spend a lot of money after the holidays, so these tanks, currently on sale, are a great buy in my opinion.
I love the idea of motivational tees, new sports bras, and leggings for my barre workouts. Here are my affordable picks from Lorna Jane, Old Navy, and Free People to freshen and brighten your winter workout wear.
What motivates you to get moving? What is your favorite workout? Continue reading
I really liked the selection of products in our first month’s subscription of Citrus Lane. There were four items in my box last month covering the basics of reading, sleeping, diapering, and eating.
