I called our dogs to the kitchen, as I do every morning. I always give them a treat and sing them a little morning song to start their little doggy day. Anyway, our dog Winston did not come running to the kitchen. By the third time I called him, he finally came to the kitchen and I gave him his treat. He took it, but did not eat it. As all pet owners know, a dog not eating his favorite treat is the first indicator of illness.
Over the weekend we met up with our good friends for lunch and they suggested we check out the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve north of Half Moon Bay in Moss Beach. The reserve is known for its tidepool creatures!
It is best to visit the reserve during low tide, which exposes the rocks and you will find a variety of sea life. You could spend hours wandering around and exploring. It is an absolutely beautiful spot to just sit and watch the waves! Just make sure you wear proper shoes, as the rocks are a bit slippery and rough, and layers to keep warm on a windy day. This is a great activity for children. Parking is free and there is no admission charge.
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. We continued our work on our new home this weekend. This is our kitchen currently in our new home. It is a blank space and I am so excited about our project! Coming back to see the house after demo day has given us renewed energy.
I have shared with you my many trips and love of Carmel and Monterey. I just can’t get enough of 17-Mile Drive and any opportunity to visit Carmel, I am there. Before we completely leave the holiday season, we took a visit to The Lodge at Pebble Beach in December with my parents. Of course, The Lodge did not disappoint with their stunning views and beautiful, classic seasonal decor. Considering room rates, menu prices seemed very reasonable and it would be an excellent place to stop for lunch or a cocktail with breathtaking views.
Wishing you a happy first weekend of 2015! Continue reading
As you know, I love planners. I love writing out calendar events as well as goals in my planner. I especially love a new planner after the previous year’s planner took a bruising going from purse to purse and the inevitable coffee stain. I love being organized and having a plan, and digital calendars are nice, but I also love a beautiful paper planner.
Here are my picks for your 2015 calendar. Continue reading
Like most people, 2014 offered some extreme highs and lows for me. At the start of 2014, were still adjusting to our new life in California, far from family and friends. Then dealing with the loss of my grandmother was a very difficult time for me, but knowing I was pregnant forced me to stay positive for my baby. I had two of the most touching and sweet baby showers a girl could ask for and nesting helped me wait patiently to meet our little girl. The arrival of our daughter was the most special moment of my life and we are so thankful she is healthy. Having my sister and other family come to meet baby M and help us made the fall a wonderful and memorable time.
After a long nine months of house hunting (and months of pregnancy!), we were so fortunate to find the perfect beach cottage for our family of three. Although we are not in the house yet, we will be there soon and I look forward to being in a neighborhood near the beach with a room for our daughter. I love living in Northern California. I love the beauty and connection to the environment people have here. The weather isn’t too bad either! I feel so blessed and cannot wait to see what 2015 holds for our family. It will be especially rewarding to watch my daughter grow over the next year.
We will be celebrating at home tonight with sushi and a dessert course of dark chocolate!
We had a wonderful holiday visit to one of my favorite vineyards in Yountville, California. My parents were in town and it was fun to take them for a wine tasting (see my dad and his fabulous glasses below!) at Cosentino.
Cosentino Winery has both red and white wines to try in an intimate tasting room. They are known for their Merlots and I especially like their Cabernets. Everyone is very friendly and it is a great spot to linger. They just remodeled the front and added a beautiful patio and fireplace, which will be a really nice spot on warmer days.
Check out their beautiful holiday decorations below. Do you have a favorite vineyard in Napa or Sonoma? Continue reading
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!
This is my favorite Christmas of all because we are celebrating as a family of three this year with our daughter. We are healthy, happy, and very blessed.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
See you back here next week!
We made it! Christmas week is here! Hopefully, you have finished all your holiday shopping and the other items on your to-do list so that you can enjoy this week. We have fun family events scheduled for each night including a visit to Santa.
In my house, everyone wears matching pjs Christmas morning. But I love to wear festive pjs in plaid and cute prints all month long. Here are a few affordable and adorable boxers for you to wrap presents in late at night. These boxers would also make great stocking stuffers!

Happy Friday! What are your plans for the last weekend before Christmas?! In our house, we have family here (yay! Grandparents!) and we are also celebrating a very special birthday. My husband’s birthday is this weekend and while we will probably mostly celebrate at home, it will be his first birthday as a dad.
Saturday we plan to do some exploring and maybe a little shopping. Lately I have been obsessed with simple white and a spectacular plaid scarf while out on the town! A red or green plaid scarf is so festive, easy to throw on, and just makes me so happy. Have a wonderful weekend! And p.s., one of my favorite stores for holiday gifts, C. Wonder is currently having a sale with 50% off your entire order!
